Trinamool leader Shivprasad Hazra, closely associated with Sheikh Shahjahan, was apprehended shortly after Directorate General (DG) Rajiv Kumar's press conference in Sandeshkhali. Hazra, who was reportedly 'absconding', was captured by authorities from the Najat police station area on Saturday. The arrest comes amidst escalating tensions in Sandeshkhali, with police recently adding charges of gang rape and attempted murder to the Sandeshkhalikand case, implicating expelled Trinamool leader Uttam Sardar and Hazra as accused. Basirhat District Superintendent of Police Hussain Mehdi Rehman confirmed the arrest, stating, "Shivprasad has been arrested from Najat police station area. He will be produced in court tomorrow (Sunday)."
